Welcome AYD, on the worst launch day

2024-08-15 - The beginning of a journey

Chat with Data

I started to think obsessively about new ways of interacting with data since the so-called ChatGPT mode "Advanced Analytics" introduction.

The possibility to ask data-related questions in plain language and get relevant answers was magic at the time.

It immediately opened a tremendous opportunity in the whole data analytics (and not only there) field by lowering barriers, letting more people access data tools, and empowering them to be more data-savvy.

We live in a digital world. Data is everywhere. We constantly produce data. So why aren't we all able to interact with it?

The LLM technology just flung this door wide open!

The chat paradigm

Even with the excitement, I've always wondered if the chat flow interaction to interrogate our data is the right paradigm.

Many similar tools have started popping up. Same paradigm, some even just GPT wrappers, with a chat prompt, answers, and charts in between. It seems right, doesn't it?

But I was still wondering:

I want to answer those questions!

Introducing AYD (Ask Your Data)!

This is an EloquentOps project.

It's our take on a new breed of a data analytics tool.

We just started.

Many, many changes and improvements will follow.

We are launching this project possibly on the worst day to launch anything (at least in Italy): the 15th of August.

In Italy, the 15th of August is similar to the 25th of December; people take the day off if they can.

So, why today?

To remind that a project is good not because of a perfect, fanfare-based launch day, but because of daily iterations, constant refinements, and quality conversations with users.

One more thing:

We already opened the tool, even in this initial version.

We want to prototype in public, fostering conversations early on.

One of the things I learned the hard way is that making a digital tool without the users in the equation is possibly the biggest mistake you can make. I already did it. I don't want to repeat it in this context.

But we cannot release it for free due to infrastructure costs. We need a bit of help since we're completely bootstrapped!

Here's the deal: you leave a few bucks on the table, and you can try the tool, supporting the project as well.

Deal? 🤝

In that case, go ahead and try it out here! and let us know what you think!

We always listen!

Do you want to try exploring data in natural language? (it's dope!)
